RTE took part in the inaugural Technical Advisory Group (TAG) of the Global Report on ECCE

On 20-21 November 2024, our ECCE Programme Manager, Rajakumari Michael, and our director, Delphine Dorsi, participated in the inaugural Technical Advisory Group (TAG) of the Global Report on ECCE organized by UNESCO in Paris and online.

The meeting gathered key stakeholders active in advancing the ECCE agenda according to the Tashkent Declaration, including: 

Consultation on the development of Guiding principles on the right to early childhood care and education

UNESCO has just launched a consultation on the development of Guiding principles on the right to early childhood care and education. The deadline to contribute is 31 of January 2025.

The Right to Education Initiative, together with a working group of experts including representatives from UNESCO, the UN Special Rapporteur’s Office, civil society, and academia, facilitates the process of drafting these Guiding Principles.

‘Education - A Human Right Under Threat’: celebrating Human Rights Day at the Irish Network for Education Worldwide’s Seminar

On 10 December 2024, to celebrate the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) adopted in 1948, our  Director, Delphine Dorsi, spoke at a seminar organised by the Irish Network for Education Worldwide on ‘Education - A Human Right under Threat’, where she emphasised the importance of education as a fundamental human right.

On 27 June 2024, at the 56th session of the Human Rights Council, the Right to Education Initiative (RTE), co-organised, with the Global Advocacy Group on ECCE Rights, a side event on ‘Guiding Principles on Early Childhood Care and education (ECCE) Rights: A Way Towards Strengthening the International and National Normative Framework’. This event was co-sponsored by the Permanent Delegations of Portugal, the Dominican Republic, Luxembourg and Sierra Leone.
